In November last year the Brazilian band “Tereza” from Rio de Janeiro contacted me about making a music video. I jumped on the opportunity right away.
“TEREZA’S BIO:The five childhood friends, Mateus Sanches, João Volpi, Sávio Azambuja, Rodrigo Martins and Vinícius Louzada rehearsed for the first time, in March 2009, a fully inventive repertoire of their own compositions. Mainly influenced by Brazilian alternative music, their songs reveal a great mixture of what’s new with what’s pop. The name of the band, named later, is Tereza, a tribute to their classmate by whom they were in love.
Since then, a lot of thing changed. Tereza(the band!) made their way into the main stages of Rio de Janeiro: Teatro Odisséia, Marina da Glória and Circo Voador, where they often play, crowding the events. In November 2009, Tereza won the competition of MTV’s Intra-Universities Festival, which yielded appearances in MTV’s TV shows and live performances, including a gig supporting the New Yorker band The Walkmen, a massive influence.
The boys also took their music all over Brazilian territory: on tours to Cuiabá and Brasília (Midwest), Belo Horizonte, Vitória and São Paulo (Southeast), Porto Alegre, Curitiba and Santa Maria (South), Belém and Roraima (North) and Salvador (Northeast).
In 2010 they were selected to play in Ray-Ban’s “Never Hide in Concert” festival, which took place on Studio SP, in São Paulo. That year Tereza was also nominated “The New Name of Brazilian Rock”, by MTV’s website.
On September 25th, the band released on the internet their newest EP, called “Onça”, Portuguese for Jaguar. It was recorded on Toca do Bandido studio, in Rio, and it counts with Tomás Magno artistic production.”
